How do I Convert Carriage Return from Textarea to HTML Line Break Syntax

I am taking input through textarea and showing result on a html page, i don't know how do i convert the carriage return to <br> tag and show on a html page. Now my input data is rendering not aligning the way user wrote in the textarea. please help me.
